Google斥资6亿收购Postini 加强主机软件安全性

Google昨天宣布以6.25亿美元收购按需安全软件供应商Postini，以加强对网络应用的保护。

Postini的软件服务为电子邮件、即时通讯和其它网络通信提供了的保护、加密、归档和执行等功能。Google希望通过此次收购加强Google Apps主机应用软件，其中包括电子邮件服务Gmail、Google日历、即时信息服务Google Talk、办公应用服务Docs & Spreadsheets和浏览服务Personal Start Page等功能。

据Google统计，每天全球约有1000位用户注册使用Google Apps，其中一些是大型企业，但绝大部分用户都是中小型企业。

Google企业部门总经理Dave Girouard在一次电话会议上表示：“我们所做的一切都有一个基本的前提。我们秉承一个理念，那就是如果能够将用户应用的以用户核心为核心、简化等特点与企业技术的易管理性、成本效率和安全性相整合的话，你就可以在用户应用和企业技术方面取得双赢。”

Girouard表示，公司整合Postini的安全软件和Google的Apps应用软件提出一种“软件作为服务（Software-as-a-service，SaaS）”模式，使管理者无需对原来的应用套装进行安装和维护。

但是这种SaaS模式有一个弊端，那就是缺乏安全性，并且无法满足法规遵从和法律发现（Legal discovery）的要求。

尽管目前有超过十万家企业和上百所大学使用Google Apps，但是一些大型企业仍然拒绝使用，因为Google Apps无法保证不发生数据丢包的情况和满足塞班斯法案和其它一些数据保护条例的要求。

搜索巨头Google希望通过不断向其产品中整合加入Postini的技术特性来弥补这方面的不足，以缓解用户对安全及企业规范的担心。

Google此次举不仅充实了其在线应用软件，而且在主机软件安全性方面捷足先登，大大加强了与Yahoo和微软的竞争实力。

研究机构Osterman Research的总裁Michael Osterman认为，Google会很好地利用Postini的软件来加强Google Apps应用软件。

Google将继续支持Postini的3.5万家企业用户，并投资开发Postini产品。Google预计，此次交易将于今年第三季度完成。
